Despite the serious operational difficulties due to the pandemic, 2020 saw the realization of 1,063 connectivity projects under the WIFI4EU program that use Cambium Networks technologies.
WiFi4EU is the major multi-year grant program to provide free Wi-Fi connectivity to municipalities and associations across Europe. These contributions cover up to 100% of the necessary infrastructure with the aim of offering citizens free, high-quality connectivity in buildings and public areas of the city, such as parks, squares, museums, libraries and health centers. The installations are financed through vouchers provided by the European Commission, and each municipality receives a voucher of EUR 15,000 assigned according to the order in which applications are submitted.
Cambium Networks’ commitment to this program, alongside municipalities and partners, has been intense and constant since day one.
The characteristics and functionalities of Cambium products ensure the necessary compliance with the technical criteria set by the tender. The offer also includes the in-cloud software, cnMaestro, a management platform which has proven to be a winning element for many projects. The most common Cambium Networks products used to deploy WiFi4EU projects are cnPilot e410 and e600 Indoor Wi-Fi Access Points and cnPilot e500, e501 and e502 Outdoor Wi-Fi Access Points.
We work with our local partners to design and deploy tailor-made solutions for each municipality by offering a demo kit, special discount, presales support and case studies as references of previous deployments.
2020 saw an important acceleration, generating 1,063 projects: 143 in Italy, 248 in Spain, 358 in the Adriatic Region, 148 in Eastern Europe, 65 in Germany and 101 in Greece and Portugal. To date, there is a total of 1,578 projects.
Municipalities have chosen Cambium equipment thanks to the end-to-end, cost-effective solution, the free in-cloud management solution cnMaestro and the three-year warranty on the Enterprise Wi-Fi Access Point.
“We are particularly proud of the results achieved by our partners across Europe,” underlines Alessio Murroni, Vice President Sales for Europe of Cambium Networks. “Public connectivity is a major factor in digitalization processes and Cambium technologies are suitable to allow public administrations to take advantage of the opportunity offered by the WiFi4EU program.”
