Polk County, Florida Joint Communications Support Unit selects Cambium Networks wireless broadband solutions for their annual field training exercises. With scenarios to test every component of a wireless broadband network under emergency conditions, Polk Co’s goals for validation of their readiness for the onset of storm season were met and exceeded.
First responders from Polk Co provide assistance statewide in the event of hurricane damage, so they work hard to ensure their staff are equipped with the latest technology to support rapid relief efforts in the form of voice/video applications, surveillance and monitoring for roads and waterways, and connectivity for emergency services and personnel devices.
Florida is the hardest hit by hurricanes of any US state, with strikes almost double that of the second most affected, Texas. With the added environmental obstacles of dense vegetation and a humid climate unfriendly to electronics, conditions for technology are far from optimal. The JCSU needed solutions capable of high performance unimpeded by these challenges.
