This isn’t just a technical improvement; it’s a critical advancement for operators seeking scalable and reliable growth in a quest to satisfy the evolving needs of end users.
A Strategic Leap in Connectivity
Deep VC, the primary new feature of the latest PMP 450 platform software, addresses a core challenge facing wireless networks: maximizing speed in increasingly demanding environments. As data consumption grows, our approach has been to engineer not just faster networks but smarter ones that can respond dynamically to user needs.
By optimizing the way data flows through the network, this upgrade eliminates the performance bottlenecks traditionally seen in high-traffic environments enabling service providers, enterprises, and industrial users to gain high data rates. With this capability, our customers can extend their service offerings and meet the rising demand of applications like video streaming, IoT, and remote collaboration.
For customers still using original 450 platform hardware (either the 450 Access Points [450 APs] or 450 Subscriber Modules [450 SMs]), now is the time to upgrade your hardware. This 450 software release is designed to unlock significant performance improvements, but these benefits are only fully realized when using the current generation of hardware (i.e., 450b, 450i, 450m, and 450v). While we are maintaining backward compatibility with older 450 hardware to support migration, upgrading now will enable you to maximize the potential of your network. This upgrade benefits the entire current generation of 450 PMP and PTP variants.
Real-World Benefits That Drive Growth
- Unleashing Higher Throughput:
The numbers speak for themselves. A 450b can now deliver over 200 Mbps on a 40 MHz channel, and the 450v surpasses 400 Mbps using two channels. What does this mean in practice? Faster content delivery, smoother operations, and uninterrupted performance for end users. This improvement allows network operators to expand premium service plans without overhauling their infrastructure. - Enhanced Efficiency for Wider Channels:
Our innovation addresses one of the key pain points many operators have experienced when moving to larger channels, such as 40 MHz. If previous attempts to utilize wider channels resulted in limited gains, Deep VC changes the equation. With optimized performance on 30 MHz and 40 MHz channels, operators can now achieve measurable throughput improvements, making the free upgrade hugely beneficial. - Seamless CBRS Integration:
CBRS deployments, particularly in 3 GHz, are an important growth area for many WISPs, and we’ve prioritized delivering solutions that work seamlessly within these environments. With this upgrade, CBRS operators using 5 ms frames will see improved bandwidth utilization and reduced latency, allowing them to compete effectively alongside LTE and 5G players. - Supporting the Expansion to 6 GHz:
As regulatory changes unlock the potential of the 6 GHz spectrum, we’re ready. The enhanced throughput capabilities of the 450v in 40+40 MHz channels—reaching download speeds of over 400 Mbps—are designed to support the next wave of high-tier broadband plans, enabling providers to tap into new market opportunities.
