The University of New Mexico School of Electrical and Computer Engineering named Atul Bhatnagar, Cambium Networks President and CEO as their Distinguished Alumni for 2020. Mr. Bhatnagar graduated from UNM with a master’s degree in 1982. Each of the 2020 Award recipients are listed here.
“I am very deeply honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Bhatnagar. “On reflection, the professors, faculty and administration made all the difference in my education. UNM provided an outstanding education. The skills prepared me very well for the future.”
Since 2013, under Atul Bhatnagar’s leadership at Cambium Networks, Cambium Networks has established itself as a global provider of high-speed fixed wireless and Wi-Fi solutions. The company increased its global business footprint, expanded its addressable market and extended worldwide market share by offering a wireless fabric portfolio of solutions that provide multi-gigabit throughput. Bhatnagar has previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ixia, where he enabled strong revenue growth by pursuing high-growth adjacent segments, including LTE, Wi-Fi testing and Wi-Fi simulation. He also served as Vice President and General Manager of Nortel’s Enterprise Data Networks division and held several GM positions involving wireless network management and creating innovative internet appliances at Hewlett-Packard Company.
Bhatnagar attributes his success to the foundational skills he learned at UNM:

In addition to business success, Mr. Bhatnagar allocates a significant portion of his time to mentor students and working professionals. As part of his values, he aims to give back to the community to perpetuate lifelong learning.
