The 6 GHz Spectrum
The 6 GHz spectrum is already approved for Wi-Fi use, and indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi access points are being deployed to accommodate new devices that use the 6 GHz spectrum. The US FCC and Canada ISED have now opened the 6 GHz spectrum for fixed wireless access (FWA) outdoor use. In these markets, the 5 GHz spectrum is quite congested. Therefore, this broad swath of new, clean spectrum (850 and 950 MHz for FCC and IC respectively) will be in high demand as service providers and private network operators strive to deliver better customer experiences and the fastest speeds while minimizing capital investment.
6 GHz Spectrum Availability Tool
The 6 GHz unlicensed spectrum in the United States and Canada requires each radio to connect to the AFC (Automatic Frequency Coordination) service. This interface in included in each 6 GHz radio and reports back which channels are available at the location the radio is deployed. Cambium’s 6 GHz Spectrum Availability Tool gives operators the ability to pre-check the channels available at any location of their choosing. Simply select the location where you intend to deploy 6 GHz and the tool responds with the channel and power level availability you could see when deploying the radio at that location.

6 GHz Indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi – Wi-Fi 6E support extends the capacity of Wi-Fi into the 6 GHz band, more than tripling the wireless spectrum available. Software defined radio technology enables access points to scale from low density areas to high density auditoriums. Centalized cloud management makes it easy to provision and operate networks that deliver exceptional user experiences.
6 GHz outdoor FWA – The ePMP 4600 6 GHz Access Point series is the fourth generation based on 802.11ax technology. Featuring 4×4 MU-MIMO and dual overlapping sectors, the ePMP 4600 can transmit to two SMs at the same time. This effectively doubles the capacity of 2×2 systems and in the process, increases link budgets by 3 dB with downlink beam steering. Combining 160 MHz channels, 4096 QAM and OFDMA the ePMP 4600 delivers up to 4 Gbps total aggregate capacity to as many as 120 subscribers.
